I was hesitant and full of fear when I just left my mother’s had and entered in a sea of new faces. I was so apprehensive as to what would happen next, just then I saw a face that bore the same familiar smile as that of my mother. She approached me and made me feel comfortable in my school...she was my first teacher. I still cherish the moments spent with my lovely teacher.Besides introducing us to the world of knowledge teachers have greater task of shaping the young minds. In our life we come across many teachers but there are only few make a difference in our lives. A good teacher is not that one who only has expertise in his subject but who can read the minds of his students, calm there fears and bring out the best in them. It is the active interaction of the teacher, his innovative teaching techniques and unbiased behaviour that attracts students to the classroom.Unfortunately, there has been a marked deterioration in the student-teacher relationship. This can be attributed to the extensive commercialization that has crept into the education system. Despite of this teachers are not given the share that they ought to get. This has significantly reduced the number of teachers who have become teachers by choice and not by compromise. We can not expect the education system to be productive when either of the two groups viz teachers and students is discontent. Let us all endeavour to bring life to the saying - ‘Guru devo bhava’.Let each child say that from doubts to determination, from mistakes to prefectionism and from ignorance to knowledge,my teacher always stood by my side.

thare was a time when we did not use to speak any ill in front of our teachers and they held a high position in our lives. now is the time when i see abusive language targeted towards teachers and literally no respect for them . what has gone wrong is not unknown to us. we must try earnestly to revive the culture of guru devo bhava.
